Analysin on the research situations on gout in oriental medicine

Abstract
We analyzed the research situations of 28 journal articles and 17 thesis papers to attract interests and more researches on the oriental gout treatment and furthermore, to provide as the fundamental materials to enhance clinical applications and the results are followed; When looking at the research papers on gout published in journals by each year of publishment, the number of papers began to increase slowly from 1988 and there had been active researches from 1994 to 2000. Again from 2004, more researches had been performed in earnest. But from 2010. there has been no paper published until now. by each journal, each of 6 papers was published in ¡°Korea journal of acupuncture¡± and ¡°Dong-eui journal of pathophysiology for the most, followed by 4 in ¡°Korea journal of oriental medicine¡± and 3 in ¡°Collection of dissertations from the research institute of oriental medicine in Daejeon university¡±. By types of research, there were 4 literature studies, 7 clinical trails, and 17 animal experimental studies. Out of 17 thesis papers of researches on gout, there was only 1 doctoral thesis paper and the rest of 16 papers were master`s thesis papers. By the time of publication each year, there had been continuous publications from 1988 to late 1990s and after then, active researches had been under progress from 2004 to 2006. In 1988, 1 doctoral thesis was published and later on, the others were published as master`s theses. Out of 17 thesis papers, Daejeon university had the most which was 7 papers followed by 6 in Kyunghee university. And all of 17 thesis papers were experimental papers and none of them were literature review or clinical studie. We have organized and analyzed the papers on gout in oriental medicines so far, and we hope this result to be used as the fundamental materials for establishing the direction of research on the oriental gout treatment through more in-depth studies in the future.
